Our Carville Site built in 1968, employs 225 company workers and 160 nested contractors. The site produces Styrene Monomer and Polystyrene used in many every day item such as coffee pods, toys, refrigerator liners, insulation, yogurt containers and decking material.
NOVA Chemicals olefins business provides customers in the petrochemical industry a full suite of products and services. We link the growing derivative markets with the low-cost feedstocks in North America – providing our supplying customers with preferred market options and product distribution services.
The Geismar, Louisiana, facility annually produces approximately 1.95 billion pounds of ethylene and NOVA Chemicals share of the total capacity of the expanded plant is approximately 1.7 billion pounds per year. In addition, the plant, located just south of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, also produces 114 million pounds of polymer grade propylene, 13 million gallons per year of crude butadiene and 14 million gallons a year of Debutanized Aromatic Concentrate (DAC).
At the Geismar facility, the olefins team of 129 employees is responsible for the ethane transportation business consisting of approximately 200 miles of pipelines, as well as a refinery-grade propylene splitter.
Syngenta is a global organization located in 90 countries with over 20,000 employees. The Syngenta Crop Protection LLC site located in St. Gabriel manufactures a broad range of some of the best available herbicides and insecticides. Our products protect the key food crops of the world, such as corn, rice, sugarcane, soybeans, fruits and vegetables. We maintain our global leadership position by delighting our customers, getting products to market fast and efficiently, and having passion for safety and the environment. Our site employees use their skills, energy and enthusiasm in the workplace and throughout the community. The St. Gabriel site participates in various community outreach efforts and raises over $40,000 annually for the American Cancer Society.
This site was built by Air Products in 1976 as a Higher Amines plant. Amines are used as raw materials in the production of herbicides and other consumer end products such as DEET, engine block molds and various pharmaceutical applications. The site was later acquired by Taminco in 2006 and during this time 4 new specialty units were built. These specialty units produce products that are used in various applications including water treatment, surfactants, resins, and the coatings industry. In 2014, Taminco became a subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Company. The company is headquartered in Kingsport, Tennessee, USA and employs approximately 14,000 people around the world.
